What do you do in your job?
I manage our major funding streams to the voluntary and Community sector and am responsible for developing and implementing the strategy for increasing the impact and effectiveness of all our funds with the sector.
How did you hear about the job and what did the application process involve?
I was already an employee of the council working in Economic Development when I saw a secondment opportunity. This has since been made permanent. I had to re interview.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The strategic nature of it and the ability to come up with my own ideas, influence others and implement them.
What is the most challenging aspect to your job?
Some times working in local government can be bureaucratic and overly hierarchical.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
As a senior manager with responsibility for private and voluntary sector relationships with a London Borough/large unitary council.
